Alec Soth will speak about his work and the Riley CAP Gallery exhibition, Alec Soth: Reading Room (Feb 15–May 4, 2025). Drawing on documentary, formalist, and narrative photographic traditions, Alec Soth uncovers the beauty and banality of the human experience. His work has taken him across the world, capturing landscapes, interiors, and people in stunning, large-format photographs. These images, carefully composed and exhibiting a remarkable clarity and directness, allow the subjects to be grasped all at once, while their details—gestures, angles, objects—invite sustained attention. Alec Soth is a photographer born and based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has been the subject of over fifty solo exhibitions and published more than thirty books. He is a member of Magnum Photos.
