Artsy Animals (Ages 4–5)

Roam the galleries to find paintings that purr and sculptures that leap and bound. We’ll see how artists use texture, pattern and shape to make life-like animal artworks. After our safari through the Museum, we’ll return to the studio to make sculpture, paintings, and prints of animals.

The Joslyn Who’s Who

This camp will introduce little ones to some of The Joslyn’s most well-known artists. We’ll visit the galleries to meet Claude Monet, Amy Sherald, Helen Frankenthaler, and others. In the studio we’ll investigate each artist’s style while making artworks of our own.

A World of Pattern (A) Ages 6-8

Mon–Fri: Jun 9–13; 9 am–noon (pair with Super Sculptures)

We will travel through time and cultures exploring trademark patterns in the galleries and creating patterns of our own! We’ll use drawing, painting, printmaking, and more as we develop artwork full of rhythm and movement.

Super Sculpture (A) Ages 6-8

Mon–Fri: Jun 9–13; 1–4 pm (pair with A World of Pattern A)

Teaching Artist: Harrison Cook

Campers will view sculpture in the galleries made from clay, wood, fiber, wire, and metal to understand how artists create carefully balanced standing structures. In the studio we will combine, build, and carve to make sculptures of our own.

Printmaking: The Great Wave (B) (Ages 9–12)

Mon–Fri: Jun 16–20; 9 am–noon (pair with A World of Pattern B)

Teaching Artist: Therese Straseski

An exhibition of Japanese prints will guide campers as they learn different printmaking techniques, such as collagraphy and intaglio, and how to roll on inks to create multiple copies from one image. We’ll see different ways nature is portrayed and learn how to abstract images to create beautiful prints.
